Gilbert, AZ (3/12/2014) – Located in Gilbert, Arizona, Footprint’s new manufacturing facility is up and running.  Founded by two former Intel employees, Troy Swope and Yoke Chung, Footprint is determined to change the way your products are manufactured and packaged.

By focusing on molded fiber and advanced technologies that convert agricultural waste into packaging materials, Troy Swope, Footprint’s CEO, and Yoke Chung, Footprint’s Chief Technology Officer are essentially waging a war on plastic in packaging.

“We envision a world where plastic packaging is a thing of the past,” says Swope.  Not a bad vision considering that plastic packaging is rarely recycled and significantly outlasts the products that are shipped in it.  According to the EPA, in 2012, the United States generated almost 14 million tons of plastics waste as containers and packaging.

“If you think that plastic or plastic based materials are your only viable option for packaging, whether it is because of cost, performance, or critical dimensions, you are wrong,” says Swope. Footprint’s molded fiber solutions often result in a cost savings while also showing significant sustainability and logistics savings.

Having assembled a team of proven innovators with extensive sustainable packaging backgrounds, Footprint is revolutionizing critical technologies and processes in molded fiber and bio-reinforced plastics.  Their new facility in Gilbert is already producing molded fiber parts for several customers in the U.S.

“Our business model gives our customers all the quality management, big-picture sustainability vision and innovation benefits of working with a consultant or a packaging brokerage firm, plus the cost savings associated with a direct manufacturer,” says Chung.

According to Chung, “the advantages that Footprint brings to the table are readily apparent to the customers we are supporting today.” Footprint is delivering cost saving along with sustainable packaging solutions to several industries.  From consumer packaged goods protected with molded fiber packaging to injection molded parts made from Footprint’s bio-reinforced polymers, Footprint’s solutions are replacing plastic without increasing costs in some of the most demanding industry possible.
